Born in Virginia and raised in the
Carolinas, Katelyn Marks knows country
music. Growing up listening to classic
country role model singers, that alone was
enough to fuel her passion for a music
career.
In 2008, Katelyn teamed up with Academy of
Country Music award winner, hit songwriter,
and producer Lonnie Wilson with whom she
recorded a self-titled EP in Nashville.
Wilson has written hits for Luke Bryan,
Rascal Flatts, and many others.
Katelyn also realized her commercial
potential when she auditioned for American
Idol in Jacksonville, Florida. After making
it to the 4th round in front of judges
Randy, Simon, Paula, and Kara, it hit home
that this was what she wanted to do with her
life. When asked by Simon why she should be
the next American Idol, Katelyn’s response
was “My goal is to not only be a recording
artist, but I want to touch people’s lives
with my music. Its what gives me purpose.”
Katelyn now fronts a high-energy band that
performs at fairs, festivals, nightclubs,
colleges and universities all over the
United States. She has opened for national
acts such as Little Big Town, Steel
Magnolia, The Band Perry, Kansas, Bucky
Covington, Shenandoah, and others.
Katelyn is receiving interest from record
labels, casting directors, and music
industry agents. By Katelyn Marks’ side is
Derek Drye who is a versatile musician
playing lead guitar, dobro, mandolin,
harmonica, as well as sharing lead and
back-up vocals. Her five-piece band performs
her original tunes and covers hits from
artists ranging from Johnny Cash to Katy
Perry. With their progressive melodies and
catchy lyrics, they are able to consistently
connect with their audience each night.
